–
May 24, 2010 – The Maryland Chamber of
Commerce has named Franchise & Business Law Group,
the only law firm in Maryland focused on meeting the
legal needs of franchisors and franchisees, as a

be announced at the Small Business of the Year
Awards Luncheontaking placeon Thursday, June 3, at
the Westin BWI Airport hotel.
“Small businesses are the backbone of Maryland’s
economy,” said Kathy Snyder, president and CEO of
the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. “It’s important,
particularly during these tough economic times, to
recognize small businesses like Franchise & Business
Law Group who are taking risks, creating jobs, and
helping to grow our state’s economy.”
Started in 2001, the Small Business of the Year
Awards program seeks to recognize the dedication,
innovation and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by
Maryland’s small businesses.
“We’re excited to be named a finalist for this
prestigious award,” said David Cahn, managing
partner and founder of Franchise & Business Law
Group. “I’m honored that the work we’ve done for
Maryland franchisors and franchisees is being
recognized as beneficial to the overall improvement
of the state’s economy.”
Franchise & Business Law Group provides unparalleled
legal guidance in the area of franchise law in
Maryland. Its clients are often companies that are
creating and overseeing a franchise network
(franchisors); or individuals investigating
ownership of or actively operating one or more
franchised businesses (franchisees).
FBLG was founded in 2004 with a vision of providing
the greater Baltimore area with quality
franchising-related legal services typically
restricted to “major markets” like Washington D.C.,
New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. FBLG attorneys
have used their counseling, negotiation and advocacy
skillsto protect numerous Maryland franchisees from
economic disasters and to provide new franchisors
with both the protection and the knowledge they need
to succeed.
The Small Business Awards Luncheon will showcase all
14 finalists and announce the winners. This year’s
keynote speaker will be Dick Cass, president of the
Baltimore Ravens; he will speak on how the
challenges of running an NFL franchise are similar
to those of running a successful small business.
