FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FRANCHISE ATTORNEY DAVID CAHN JOINS WHITEFORD, TAYLOR & PRESTON

January 25, 2011

Baltimore - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is delighted to announce that David L. Cahn has joined the firm's Baltimore office as Counsel.

The firm's managing partner, Martin T. Fletcher, said, "We are very pleased to welcome David to the firm. His established franchise practice is highly complementary to our business practices and an excellent strategic fit for our mid-market focus."

Mr. Cahn commented, "I'm excited to join WTP because of the depth of talent here. The firm's outstanding corporate and litigation lawyers can benefit my franchising clients, and I can offer my experience in franchising and licensing to the firm's client base."

In 2004, Mr. Cahn founded the Franchise & Business Law Group, a law firm focused on meeting the needs of the increasing number of business people interested in franchising. Prior to that, he had been an associate at larger law firms in Washington and Baltimore and served as an Assistant Counsel for the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs Committee. He has been recognized three times as a "Legal Eagle" by Franchise Times Magazine.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 and his bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1990. He is admitted to the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.

Mr. Cahn has served on the Board of the Maryland State Bar Association's Business Law section and is immediate past chair of the MSBA's Franchise Law Committee. In addition, he has written many articles for area papers and has given regional and national seminars for attorneys and entrepreneurs, including, "Understanding and Negotiating A Franchise Agreement," which he has co-taught for the Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia bar associations.

The 150 attorneys at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston are dedicated to helping our clients achieve their business goals through strategic legal counsel. We serve our clients across the nation and around the globe, wherever their business takes us, from our base of six offices in the mid-Atlantic region.
